A Very Warm Welcome to Newfriars College. I feel very honoured to lead the exceptional team at the college and I am extremely proud of the journey we have been on together. Our passion is in specialist education, and we have great partnerships and opportunities which are thriving in the local community.

We continuously strive to transform the lives of young people through innovation, partnership and collaboration, and I am eager to ensure that every young person who attends the college has the best possible opportunity to achieve their full potential. Newfriars College aims to nurture every learner’s unique strengths, passions, and aspirations, helping them develop the skills they need for a happy and successful adult life.

Through our innovative curriculum and a wealth of enriching experiences, we provide exceptional education within a supportive and inclusive environment. Our college is full of passion, energy and enthusiasm and our young people learn in a safe and supportive environment where they can take enjoy and achieve.

We want all of our learners to have excellent experiences at Newfriars every day and our values of never losing sight of what is important – the young people who attend our college remain at our core. SEND

Our Special Schools are dedicated to supporting children and young people with a broad spectrum of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

From those with profound medical conditions and life-limiting illnesses, to individuals with severe, moderate, or sensory needs, and those experiencing social, emotional, or mental health challenges, our settings are designed to provide the care, understanding, and expertise each young person needs to thrive.

Whether you're a teacher, teaching assistant, healthcare professional, or part of our facilities, administration, or operations teams, you will find a welcoming, family-like environment where every role is valued.

At the heart of each school is a shared commitment to putting children, young people, and their families first.

Each pupil receives a personalised education and learns in small groups or classes, supported by dedicated staff who tailor their approach to meet individual needs.

Newfriars College is a Specialist FE College with 200+ learners aged between 16 and 25 who have a range of Special Educational Needs. At Newfriars, we are creating a vision that places our learners and their families at the heart of everything we do.

Newfriars College provides a Preparation for Adulthood curriculum for young people who have a range of SEND including complex needs. The College is working with young people and their families to give them the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge they need to live their best possible adult life – be that in employment, volunteering, further study, independent or supported living.

At Newfriars College we offer a broad curriculum offer delivered a wide range of accredited courses including GCSE, NCFE and BTEC as well as our innovative College ‘Step Up’ Qualification programme. We pride ourselves on providing a practical, skills based, personalised curriculum offer for all of our young people to ensure we support the breadth of needs of our young people at the College.

We work collaboratively with our local community and with our parents/carers. Our rich curriculum offer is outwards facing actively engaging our young people with their community. We have a wide range of community and volunteer opportunities as well as College based ‘real-life’ learning opportunities. There is considerable scope for creativity and development of new opportunities.

We offer our curriculum across three Pathways: Vocational Pathway, Independent Living Pathway and Supported Living Pathway. Our curriculum offer embeds additional therapies and assistive technologies and communication to meet the individual needs of our young people.
